Moncks Corner

This scenic, quaint little town is the site of many historic churches, and the dam and locks of the mighty hydroelectric power plant are nearby. Mepkin Abbey, formerly a rice plantation, is a beautiful Roman Catholic monastery with a garden and chapel open to the public. Many fine examples of early rice plantations are along the rivers and are still serving as residences. Strawberry Chapel is a "chapel-of-ease" and the last remaining building of the town of Childsburg, which was a bustling town before the Civil War.

This community's relationship to the outdoors is unrivaled- hunting, fishing, hiking, kayaking and horseback riding abound in the forest, lakes and streams that surround it. When it comes to enjoying the outdoors, Moncks Corner's location is unrivaled.  Lakes, rivers, forests...we have it all!  Interested in kayaking or fishing tours?  Check out Blueway Adventures.  Feel like hiking? Visit the Palmetto Trail that runs through the Francis Marion National Forest.  If you are looking for something more leisurely, take a stroll at one of the many plantations located in Moncks Corner. Not feeling outdoorsy?  Visit historic Main Street for dining and shopping and then relax at Unity Park while enjoying the beautiful fountain and landscaping.

It is a tight-knit town that rallies around their high schools and hosts annual parades and festivals.

Moncks Corner...the little hometown with so much to do!
